All students are part of the community and contribute to it through their individual effort and responsibility. Leibniz Privatschule emphasizes respectful behaviour, honesty and kindness. Mission statement
It is the aim to educate young people to be able to take responsibility for themselves and others, enjoy learning for its own sake, develop an international outlook, become independent thinkers and strive to become high achievers. Leibniz Privatschule seeks to deliver not only education but to help young people to develop strong personalities and to be prepared for life. It is their aim to enable them to flourish in their chosen fields, for example in academic, cultural and sporting pursuits. The educational approach is based on taking responsibility for oneself, society and the environment.

International focus
Students attending Leibniz Privatschule comprise of a variety of nations. While most students have a german background a growing number of students have a non-german background totaling 25 different nationalities. Some grew up in different countries and continue their school carreers at Leibniz Privatschule, some grow up in bilingual families. Teachers at Leibniz Privatschule reflect this internationality, some have worked and lived abroad, so part of them have non-german mothertonges. Leibniz Privatschule in cooperation with Lichtwarkschule Hamburg supports a regional refugee project. Leibniz students are directly involved in this when collecting goods in need or raising funds at school fairs to finance an art workshop for traumatised kids and their parents. Leibniz further offers spaces in kindergarten and school for refugee children to get settled and integrated as fast as possible.

Travelling different countries and getting in contact with people from different cultures is a key requirement to foster open mindedness and tolerance. Therefore Leibniz conducts annual class trips in every school level to a variety of destinations such as different regions in Germany, England, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, and Italy. Leibniz School has a long lasting partnership with sister schools King’s High and Queen’s High at Dunedin, New Zealand. Every spring they offer the possibility to the level 9 and 10 students to experience this country. This trip often inspires students to stay for a semester or more.

Full-Day-School
School opens at 7.30 am every day and closes at 5 pm; this includes day care. Classes in the elementary school are held from 8 until 12.30 with the according breakfast breaks. At 1:10 pm, classes break for lunch. Every day consists of five lessons without class cancelations throughout the entire year. The secondary school I and II have classes each day from 8 until 2.35 pm, followed by supervised homework. For each homework session, teachers are present to help with questions. Homework session last 1,5 hours in grade 10, to two hours in grade 11 and 12.

Educational Programmes
Leibniz Privatschule supports children throughout the entire education. The educationalprogrammes comprise:

• Secondary School level I + II (Gymnasium, age 9-14 and 15-18)
• starting 2018/19: International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (age 17-18)

The Gemeinschaftsschule at the Leibniz Privatschule is a state certified school. Students obtain the MSA (middle school certificate) after completing class level 10 and final exams sucessfully. Also the Gymnasium at the Leibniz Privatschule is a state certified school. Secondary Level at the Gymnasium-part of Leibniz Private School is a three-year education comprising class levels 10 to 12. The Leibniz Private School offers different secondary level profiles: Mathematics and natural science profile, Linguistic profile, Socio-economic profile and Sports profile.
Diploma Programme
The Leibniz Privatschule aims to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme to students starting in September 2018/19 in year 11. It‘s an internationally recognized university-entrance qualification which takes two years. It will allow students to apply to universities all over the world. Leibniz Privatschule Elmshorn is a candidate school for the Diploma Programme. This means the school is pursuing authorization to become an IB World School. They share a common philosophy a commitment to high quality, challenging education and internationalism and personal engagement.
